Tom Cheatham, director of UIT’s Center for High Performance Computing, has been named a co-principal investigator on a nearly $1.5 million, two-year grant from the National Science Foundation.

Microsoft is hosting several first- and second-level Microsoft Teams training sessions for University of Utah community members in advance of the university’s migration from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams this fall.

No IT governance meetings took place in July. The Enterprise Web Advisory Council will meet on August 10. The Strategic Information Technology Committee will reconvene on September 14. The Architecture and New Technology Committee will regroup on September 27.

UIT has spent the past few years adopting new Cisco technologies as it converts the university's data centers to application-centric infrastructure (ACI) environments. ACI is an ambitious data center strategy that shifted the security focus from the “the network” to “the application.”

A renewed Microsoft Campus Agreement continues to provide no-cost access to the popular Office 365 suite and upgrades the U to a tier that includes several security management, compliance, unified communications, and analytics features.

The two-day course will give attendees a practical understanding of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library at the foundation level, in preparation for the ITIL Foundation in Service Management exam.
