To better protect institutional and user data, the University of Utah will soon require students, affiliates, and alumni to use Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) to access certain U online applications and resources.

Policy 4-010 requires all U of U and University of Utah Health employees, including student employees, and university trustees to use only official enterprise email systems to conduct institutional business by email.

Without access to Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG, formerly Kronos), which experienced a ransomware attack in December, HR, Finance, and IT teams from across the U speedily developed two interim web applications to track work hours and pay codes.

My Class Map enables enrolled students to access a list of their registered courses, pinpoint their locations, and get directions through the CIS portal or by logging in to the app with their university credentials. Students also can view other on-campus amenities.

An initiative is underway to move network nodes from the Park Building to the Williams Building in Research Park, making it the university’s second primary network node after the Eccles Broadcast Center.
