UIT employees this month wished a fond farewell to Jill Brinton, associate director for the Project Management Office (PMO) for the past four years. Colleagues called the “cat lady” and basketball fan engaging, humorous, intentional, and no-nonsense.

The Teaching and Learning Portfolio (TLP) met on June 11. The Strategic Information Technology Committee (SITC) will reconvene on July 13. The Architecture and New Technology Committee (ANTC) will regroup on July 26. The Enterprise Web Advisory Council (EWAC) will meet on August 12. The next TLP meeting is to be determined.

In order to create a central, more user-friendly, and easy-to-manage virtual private network (VPN) service, the university and U of U Health decided to partner on a project to replace the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client with the Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN client.

Scott Lloyd manages the Campus Help Desk and Operators team in the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) organization. The busy 12-person desk – five full-time staff and seven part-time student employees — answered approximately 50,000 calls and 10,000 emails in 2020.
