The database where UIT stores contact information for University of Utah IT staff members in the event of a network incident is moving to ServiceNow, a more secure and scalable platform.

The changes — which include improved app design and navigation, among other things — were driven by student feedback, department requests, and usage data.

The U's chief information security officer cautions people using U-managed devices not to install or use any application that doesn’t serve a legitimate university purpose.

The rule ensures that all relevant parties know about IT changes and that the U’s IT systems and resources work properly after any changes. It also makes it easier to prevent unsuccessful changes and implement similar changes in the future.
