Microsoft is hosting several first- and second-level Microsoft Teams training sessions for University of Utah community members in advance of the university’s migration from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams this fall.

Starting in May, UIT will begin two major IT infrastructure projects to modernize the university’s communication technology and better meet the needs of those working, learning, and teaching remotely.

Brainware — an optical character recognition software that UIT is helping the university purchase and integrate — is expected to increase access for high school students and college transfers, improve admissions decisions, and help increase student retention.

Included in the University of Utah's campus agreement with Microsoft and integrated with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Whiteboard lets you create and share digital whiteboards. There is no cost to current U students, staff, and faculty.

Effective January 1, 2021, some Microsoft software is no longer available through the Kivuto OnTheHub web store. Microsoft will continue to provide updates for software previously purchased though the Kivuto web store.

After December 31, 2020, Adobe will stop distributing and updating Flash Player — just short of its 20th birthday. While many major browsers will automatically disable Flash Player before then, users still may need to uninstall the software on their operating systems in order to prevent any security vulnerabilities.
