CAMPUS VIGNETTE

U students kicked off the 2017 fall semester with an intramural sports canoe battleship competition at the Eccles Student Life Center. The goal? Sink your opponent’s canoe before you get sunk. (Photo courtesy of the University of Utah)

Student Life Center can help you beat the winter blahs

Health care experts have lots of great advice for staving off seasonal affective disorder — from getting more sunlight (artificial or real) to eating more nutritiously. What if you could also sign up for a backcountry cooking class, prep for an overnight canyoneering trip, swim laps in a 50-meter pool, or test your rock scrambling skills on an indoor climbing wall?

Thanks to Campus Recreation Services, you can! Eccles Student Life Center offers year-round recreational opportunities for U community members, and it’s accessible for free to U students and for a daily, monthly, or yearly fee to faculty, staff, emeriti, and significant others.

IT SECURITY TIP

A Duo push notification asks the user to verify whether they are trying to log in to CAS WEB.

How to combat push phishing

Before approving push notifications from Duo and other multifactor authentication services, consider:

  • Did you just attempt to access that application?
  • Is there anything unusual about the application you are accessing?
  • Where did the push request come from? Check the location details in the Duo Mobile app.
  • Did an application session just end, or are you being prompted to log in again to an account?
