New faculty guide to IT resources
Welcome to the University of Utah! This guide is meant to provide you with a quick glance at some of the many digital resources you may need as a staff member and to direct you to answers for any questions you may have. This is by no means an exhaustive list, so if you have suggestions for something you think staff should know about, email webmaster@it.utah.edu.
We also provide guides for new students, new staff, and IT staff.
Please consult with your local IT support staff, who also may provide other helpful resources specific to your department or college.
Campus alerts and IT incident alerts
To specify how the university will contact you in the event of campus emergencies, official closures, and other important events, review the information under the "Campus Alert" tile in the CIS portal.
Once you're signed up for campus alerts, you can also sign up to receive notices of campus network outages or other IT problems through our NotifyIT service. You may also visit our IT Services Status page at uofu.status.io.
Campus and hospital help desks
Many departments and/or colleges have internal IT staff who should be considered the first contact for IT questions or issues.
The Campus IT Help Desk is staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (MT) Monday-Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (MT) Saturday-Sunday (11:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Korea Time Monday-Friday and 12:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Korea Time Saturday-Sunday).
To quickly find answers to your questions, search the IT Knowledge Base. If you still need help, call 801-581-4000 (833-981-0049 toll-free for Asia campus).
For less urgent issues, you may also email helpdesk@utah.edu. For IT outage information, visit our IT Services Status page at uofu.status.io.
University of Utah Health employees should contact internal department IT staff first if possible. The University of Utah Health ITS Service Desk can be reached at 801-587-6000.

You will then be prompted to answer security questions and set a permanent password.
The CIS portal contains a variety of employee self-service apps that allow you to view or change your information, including payroll and taxes, benefits, personal info, and more. Please access our help guide for information about updates to the portal.
Campus maps
The University GIS team has partnered with several university groups to launch maps that help people find their way around campus and the hospital, and highlight campus assets.
